Rohit Sharma provides update on his knee injury ahead of MCG Test vs Australia

The India captain was struck on the knee at the nets while facing a throwdown specialist

India captain Rohit Sharma was struck on the knee at the nets by the team's throwdown specialist and was visibly in pain. The kee was then strapped, giving an indication that it could indeed be a serious one. However, Rohit clarified that his knee is perfectly fine and will lead India in the fourth Test in Melbourne, starting December 26 (Thursday).

“It’s fine," Rohit stated in the pre-match press conference when asked about his injury.

Rohit missed the first Test of the series due to personal reasons. Since his return, he has registered scores of 3, 6, and 10. The batter says nothing really has changed since his last knock. “Nothing has changed since I last spoke about it. We’ve had two sessions, and in those sessions, what can change?" he said.

“Those pitches in which we trained for the last couple of days were used pitches. Perhaps they were used for Big Bash. Now, today is the only day where we are going to get the other side of it, which will be a fresher wicket. So, we will go and see how it is and train accordingly."

The five-match Test series is currently level at 1-1. After the Boxing Day Test, India and Australia will clash for the final time in Sydney on January 3, 2025.
