Rocky Flintoff smashes maiden century for England Under-19s

Flintoff, 16, was in the spotlight earlier this year in April when he smashed 50* & 116 representing Lancashire’s second XI

Rocky Flintoff, son of legendary England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, has smashed his maiden century at the Under-19 level, hammering 106 runs against Sri Lanka Under-19s in the second unofficial Youth Test of the ongoing series between the two sides.

Flintoff, 16, was in the spotlight earlier this year in April when he smashed 50* & 116 representing Lancashire’s second XI. His rich vein of form got him an England Under-19 call up.

The right-hander did not set the stage alight in the Youth ODIs - registering scores of 22, 3 & 14 - but has now notched up his maiden ton at the youth level in the second Youth Test.

Walking in at No.6, Flintoff smashed 106 runs off 181 balls. His knock consisted of nine fours and two sixes.

The England Under-19 side that Flintoff is a part of also includes Archie Vaughan, the son of former England captain Michael Vaughan, and Jaydn Denly, the nephew of former England opener Joe Denly.

Flintoff signed his first professional contract with Lancashire earlier this year, in June, just a couple of months after turning 16.

"I'm very happy and excited to have signed my first professional contract with Lancashire," Flintoff had said.

"It's something that I've been working towards since I started playing cricket, so to sign for my home county is a dream come true.

"I've been with the club since I was 8 years old, so to have the opportunity to keep representing the Red Rose is a big honour. I have loved playing for the Second XI so far this season and I'm looking forward to continuing to work hard on all aspects of my game."
