Rishabh Pant has backed his strengths, we will continue to support him: Jasprit Bumrah

The India wicketkeeper was named the player of the series against Sri Lanka following some crucial quick-fire knocks

Following an emphatic Test series win over Sri Lanka, India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has backed Rishabh Pant's style of batting saying you cannot teach everyone to play in the same way, further adding that the team will continue to back him.

Pant finished the series with 185 runs at 61.67, which included a staggering strike-date of 120.13. His feat also included registering the fastest fifty by an Indian in Bengaluru, getting to the milestone in 28 deliveries.

His performance earned him the player of the series award as well. "You can't teach everyone to play in the same manner. Pant has backed his strengths and that is the tempo he plays at," Bumrah said of Pant, according to TOI

"We understand that. But at the same time, he is learning a lot and getting more experience. As a team, we will also continue to help him go forward."

Bumrah too was at the top of his game in the series, finishing with 10 wickets at nine including a maiden five-wicket haul on home soil in Bengaluru. The India vice-captain said he was happy to contribute to the team's victory.

"It feels good. I play three formats and it is not easy to play all games and sometimes I have missed out on home Tests. But to be able to contribute towards the team is a great thing for all."

India have made a terrific start since Rohit Sharma took permanent charge of the team. They are yet to lose a single match with the opening batter at the helm.
