Veteran all-rounder Ravi Bopara has slammed Chitwan Rhinos' first Nepal Premier League (NPL) fifty. He brought up the milestone in his side's second game of the tournament against Pokhara Avengers at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on December 3 (Tuesday). He got to his fifty off just 36 deliveries and was dismissed for a 38-ball 51 by Raymon Reifer.
Bopara started off slowly, managing just seven off his first nine, but then shifted gears to give the Rhinos some momentum. He put on 68 off just 48 with his skipper Kushal Malla to put Chitwan in a commanding position.
Bopara walked in during the powerplay, and the Rhinos were already three down. Another wicket there could have put the Avengers on top, but Bopara, along with Malla, did not allow that.
The Rhinos got off to the best possible start in the tournament, beating the Kathmandu Gurkhas by five wickets on December 2 (Tuesday). They were put into bat by the Avengers in this game and have made the best of the conditions. They went into this game unchanged, which meant that Nicol Loftie-Eaton, who scored a century for Namibia earlier this year, was left to warm the bench again.
