Ranji Trophy: Narayan Jagadeesan continues his Coimbatore domination

Jagadeesan has now scored 916 runs in the Ranji Trophy since the start of last season at an average of 76.33

Six innings played. A triple century, an unbeaten double century and now a century — Narayan Jagadeesan continues to be invincible at the SNR College Ground in Coimbatore.

Once again starting the season at the top of the order, Jagadeesan shared a 172-run opening stand with Sai Sudharsan after Tamil Nadu bowled Saurashtra out for 203.

Sudharsan (82) perished 18 short of his ton after a mix-up, but Jagadeesan ensured to go past the milestone as he notched up his ninth century in first-class cricket on Day 2 of the aforementioned clash in Coimbatore.

However, the 28-year-old perished almost immediately after getting to the three-figure mark, being dismissed by the experienced Jaydev Unadkat.

Nevertheless, a century is a century and Jagadeesan continues to pile on the runs. He has now scored 916 runs in the Ranji Trophy since the start of last season at an average of 76.33. Remarkably, 752 of these runs have come in Coimbatore alone, where he’s averaged 150.4 since the start of last season.

Jagadeesan recently represented India B in the Duleep Trophy, where he posted scores of 13, 5 & 70. Despite putting up stellar numbers, however, the right-handed wicketkeeper-batter is yet to represent India ‘A’ in red-ball cricket.
