Former Australian tearaway pacer Shaun Tait will join hands with Shane Watson in the backroom staff for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators. Tait has joined the backroom staff as the bowling coach, with the franchise earlier appointing Watson as their head coach for the upcoming season.
"I'd like to thank Nadeem Omar (Quetta Gladiators owner) who trusted me with the bowling group," Tait said in an official statement, "including Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, and Mohammad Amir. Some great talent there to work with alongside the great Shane Watson."
Gladiators’ decision comes on expected lines, with Tait’s experience as Pakistan’s bowling coach, where he has worked closely with a lot of the franchise’s pacers. After four seasons of consistency, the colours have faded away at the Gladiators, who have failed to make it to the playoffs in the last four years.
The appointment of Tait and Watson comes at the most opportune time for the franchise, which is looking to overturn its fortune with the season set to kick-off on February 8.
