Anmolpreet Singh of Punjab became the fastest centurion in List-A cricket for India after he smashed a century in only 35 balls against Arunachal Pradesh in a Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024-25 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium on December 21 (Saturday).
Chasing a target of 165 to win, Anmolpreet, who came in to bat at number three after the fall of Abhishek Sharma, smashed 115* off just 45 balls as Punjab chased the target down in only 12.5 overs.
Anmolpreet’s 35-ball century broke the record of the fastest List-A hundred by an Indian, held by Yusuf Pathan, who had smashed a 40-ball hundred against Maharashtra during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2009-10.
The record for the fastest List-A hundred stands with Jake Fraser McGurk, who scored a 29-ball hundred against Tasmania while playing for South Australia in 2022-23. The record for the fastest ODI hundred was scored by South Africa’s AB de Villiers, who scored a 31-ball hundred against West Indies in 2014-15.
