Unlike previous editions, the draft for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 will take place on January 11, later than usual, owing to the tournament’s change in schedule. According to ESPNCricinfo, the 2025 edition of the PSL will happen in the four-week slot between early April and mid-May.
The same publication also reported that PSL are trying to tap into the market of unsold players at the IPL mega auction. With no international fixtures scheduled during the PSL, there’s a strong chance that the likes of David Warner, Kane Williamson, Akeal Hosein, Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid could feature in the tournament.
However, that doesn’t guarantee that all the players would be available for the entire season, given the loggerhead between the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Professional Cricketers' Association (PCA) over NOCs. ECB earlier announced that no first-class contracted players would be allowed to play in a franchise competition apart from IPL, provided it clashes with the domestic season.
With the County Championship scheduled to begin on April 4, there’s a strong chance that many English players might not be available. The publication also stated that PSL are trying to seal this window for themselves going forward, given the absence of international cricket.
