On July 21 (Sunday), Pakistan showcased their strength with a commanding nine-wicket victory over Nepal, to keep themselves alive in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024. Nepal, put to bat first, struggled to build a competitive total, ending their innings at 108/6.
Sita Rana Magar’s 26 off 30 balls and Puja Mahato’s 25 off 32 balls were the main contributions, but regular wickets kept the scoring rate in check. Pakistan’s bowling was led by Sadia Iqbal, who took 2 wickets for 19 runs, and Fatima Sana, who added 1 for 24.
In response, Pakistan Women chased down the target of 109 runs in just 11.5 overs, thanks to an outstanding opening partnership. Gull Feroza’s explosive 57 off 35 balls set the tone, supported by Muneeba Ali’s steady 46 not out off 34 balls.
The duo put on a 105-run stand, effectively sealing the win for Pakistan. Despite a late wicket from Kabita Joshi, Pakistan reached the target with ease.
