Litton Das, who captained the Bangladesh side to their first-ever T20I clean sweep against West Indies, is ready to take up captaincy full-time if given a chance.
"As far as captaincy is concerned, if the BCB asks me to lead then I am ready to do it because there is no reason [not to] and I am enjoying it," Das told reporters after the win in Kingstown, Jamaica on December 20.
Das was allowed to lead the team in Najmul Hossain Shanto’s absence during this series. He had previously led the team in five T20Is as well.
Lauding the bowlers for their brilliant performance where they bowled the opposition out in all the games, Das said, “I take a lot of decisions on the field from the experience that I have got playing for so long and the skill that the bowlers developed makes it easier to run the show on the field.”
"Overall if I have to say our bowling attack was outstanding and the way they bowled in three formats, both the pacers and spinners. I was behind the wickets and I was feeling good as every batter was struggling," added the 30-year-old.
Shanto, who led Bangladesh in all formats till the team’s UAE tour and got injured during their series against Afghanistan, is no longer favoured to be the all-format captain even after he recovered quickly. While Mehidy Hasan Miraz is already leading the Tests and ODI sides, Das could be asked to lead the side in T20Is permanently.
However, it is his recent batting form that is making his case poor. To improve upon it, he is already seeking guidance from the team’s batting coach Mohammad Salahuddin.
"As far as batting is concerned I am trying and as a batter probably had a low phase in three formats. But sir is helping a lot and the thing is every player is free with him and he knows us from our childhood and these things help us at the back of the mind and while talking with sir the cricketing issues are resolved and hopefully I'll get over the lean patch soon,” he said.
