Having won the toss, Afghanistan put the hosts West Indies into bat first on a true-batting surface at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St Lucia. One ball into the innings, Afghanistan would have already regretted their decision as the hosts already had four runs on the board.

Pooran smashed 36 runs off Omarzai’s over, levelling Yuvraj Singh’s record over of 36 runs against Stuart Broad way back in 2007 at Durban. It was only the fifth occasion where 36 runs were scored in a single over in T20Is.

A powerplay carnage from West Indies
Thanks to Johnson Charles and Pooran, West Indies managed to score 92 runs in the first six overs, the most in a single innings at the T20 World Cup.
