Mongolia equal record for lowest T20I total

The Central Asian country could score only 10 runs after batting first against Singapore at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier A

Mongolia have registered yet another infamous cricket record to their name. After getting out for 17 and 12 runs against Hong Kong and Japan, respectively, they have now been cleaned up for just 10 runs against Singapore in the Asia Qualifiers for the Men’s T20 World Cup. They matched the record-low score created by the Isle of Man when they were also all out for 10 against Spain in 2023.

Singapore chased down the target in just five deliveries, which is the second-fastest successful chase in T20I history.

Batting first, their fall of wickets began from the first ball itself, as legspinner Harsha Bharadwaj got Mohan Vivekanandan caught on the first ball. That started a consistent streak of dismissals that ended in the 10th over, with the entire team getting all out for just 10 runs. Bharadwaj picked six wickets for Singapore in the game.

Meanwhile, Singapore also lost their opener, Manpreet Singh, on the first ball as the 17-year-old medium pacer Enkhbat Batkhuyag got him caught. However, Singapore finished the chase in the next four balls.

Mongolia is a new cricketing nation that became a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) only in 2019. Their first proper international exposure came during the Asian Games in Hangzhou, where both their men’s and women’s teams participated.

There, Nepal scored 314 runs against them and won the game by a world record 273 runs. Dipendra Singh Airee hit a nine-ball 50 in that game, which is the fastest-ever half-century in T20I cricket.

Since then, the Mongolians' cricket journey has been tough. They have lost all four of their games in the Asia Qualifiers. Meanwhile, Singapore have won and lost two games each and are fourth in the seven-team tournament.
