Mohammad Nabi, one of the most celebrated Afghanistan all-rounders, has decided to bid goodbye to the ODI format at the end of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
"Yes, Nabi is retiring from ODIs after the Champions Trophy, and he informed the board about his desire," Cricbuzz quoted Naseeb Khan, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) chairman, as saying.
Khan further confirmed that Nabi will continue to play T20Is for the national team. "He told me a few months back, and we welcome his decision. After the Champions Trophy, I understand that he is expected to continue his T20 career, and that is the plan until now," he added.
Nabi, who recently played an amazing knock of 82 against Bangladesh in the first match of the three-match series in UAE, has represented Afghanistan in 165 ODIs so far.
The right-handed batter played Afghanistan's first match in 2009 against Scotland and has, as an off-spinner, scored 3,549 runs and taken 171 wickets. The 42-year-old already retired from Test cricket in 2019. Nabi has so far played 129 T20Is and was part of three Tests.
