Points Table of MLC 2024 at the end of League Stage

Top performers of MLC 2024 at the end of League Stage

Who grabbed the headlines?

Steve Smith (Washington Freedom)

Smith is having a good season both as a batter and the captain of Washington Freedom. In the first two weeks, he scored 40+ knocks in three games. In the final two matches of the league stage, he managed to go past 50 runs in back-to-back innings, showcasing his rich form and finishing the league stage with 247 runs in 7 innings at a decent strike rate of 144.

Travis Head (Washington Freedom)

Head, like his countryman and opening partner, has been even more aggressive as he became the first player in MLC to score four back-to-back fifties. After scoring 54 in back-to-back games in the second week of MLC against LA Knight Riders and MI New York, he scored 53 and 56 against TSK and SFU in the third week. With 250 runs in 7 innings, he stands second in the highest run scorers list.

Noor Ahmad (Texas Super Kings)

Noor Ahmad, who entered the tournament in the third week, showed his impact immediately. His figures of 3/38 against Washington Freedom and 2/19 against Seattle Orcas played a key role in the Texas Super Kings qualifying for the playoffs.

Nosthush Kenjige (MI New York)

Nosthush Kenjige had a quiet run in the first two weeks of MLC 2024, as he picked just one wicket in 3 matches he played. The third week turned out to be a good one as he picked up 2/13 against San Francisco Unicorns and 2/22 against LA Knight Riders. He will be expected to be a good support spinner for Rashid Khan in the playoffs.

The duds from MLC 2024

Monank Patel (MI New York)

Monank Patel, the captain of the USA national team did not have the captaincy burden. Still, he has had an underwhelming MLC 2024. Apart from one 50+ score against TSK, where he scored 61(45), the rest of the scores have been single digits, cumulating a total of 24 runs in the remaining five innings. His batting average of 14.17 is the lowest for a batter (50+ runs) in this edition of MLC.

Heinrich Klaasen (Seattle Orcas)

Klaasen had a terrible edition of MLC 2024. Apart from one innings of 51(30) against Washington Freedom, the rest of the matches were disappointing for him. He managed just 46 runs in the remaining 5 innings, finishing the tournament with just 97 runs at an average of 16.2.

David Miller (LA Knight Riders)

Miller, like his fellow South African in Klaasen, had a horrible MLC 2024. He managed just 81 runs in six innings, scoring at a strike rate of 121, which is way less for a batter who bats during the slog overs.

Haris Rauf (San Francisco Unicorns)

Rauf has not lived up to expectations for the San Francisco franchise. He has failed to pick wickets even though he has bowled with a decent economy. The express pacer has taken just three wickets in six innings at a bowling strike rate of 43.7, which is the worst for a bowler in MLC 2024.
