All-rounder Mitchell Marsh returned to the Big Bash League (BBL) after a span of three years, but his stay at the crease against the Melbourne Renegades was short-lived as he was dismissed for a golden duck at the Perth Stadium.
Marsh, who was axed from Australia's Test side for the final Test against India in Sydney, was trapped leg-before by Will Sutherland in the third over of the match. Marsh walked in after Finn Allen was dismissed for 19 off 12.
Marsh last played in the BBL before today (January 7), in the 2022 final, when his side Perth Scorchers beat Sydney Sixers by 79 runs to help them win their fourth title at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.
In the title-winning season, Marsh scored 347 runs at a strike rate of 142.79, including an unbeaten century, and with the ball, he picked up five wickets at an economy rate of 8.46.
However, it will be tough for Marsh, Australia's T20I captain, to return to the Test side, as Beau Webster made quite the impression on his debut in Sydney. He scored 96 runs in the game and also picked up a wicket.
Perth are currently in fifth place in the BBL 2024-25 season with three wins out of six games.
