David Willey has withdrawn from the IPL 2024 for personal reasons, and the Lucknow Super Giants have replaced him with the Kiwi pacer Matt Henry. Henry has been bought at his base price of 1.25 crores.
Willey joins Harry Brook, Gus Atkinson, Jason Roy and Mark Wood in a list of English players who have withdrawn from IPL 2024 for various reasons.
Henry has bowled in 17 T20Is for New Zealand and picked up 20 wickets at an average of 24.80 and an economy of 8.13. However, he doesn't have a lot of experience playing in India. Henry was part of Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings in IPL before but was featured in a game only for the Kings. He did a good job bowling in India during the 2023 ODI World Cup though, where he took 11 wickets at an average of 28.63.
