The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have set their eyes on young guns in their retention list, which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council will make public ahead of the October 31 deadline.
The Lucknow-based franchise, as reported by ESPNcricinfo, is likely to retain tearaway pacer Mayank Yadav, ace leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi and Caribbean calypso Nicholas Pooran as capped players.
They would choose Uttar Pradesh pacer Mohsin Khan and Delhi batter Ayush Badoni among the uncapped players.
Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, each team has been asked to name a maximum of six players they want to retain. The list could include a maximum of two overseas and two uncapped players.
After the five retentions, LSG will be left with one Right to Match (RTM) Card and they could use it during the auction to encash their sixth and final retention. As per the IPL policy of retention, LSG will have to part with INR 51 Cr for the five retentions from their auction purse of INR 120Cr.
The first three capped retentions, INR 18, 14, and 11 Cr, respectively, will be deducted from the team’s purse. The uncapped players' retention is priced at INR 4 Cr. Thus, the total deduction from LSG’s purse amounts to INR 51 Cr.
Pooran could be LSG's first retention, followed by Mayank and Bishnoi, who will receive INR 18, 14, and 11 Cr, respectively.
Earlier, news of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)'s likely retention also made the headlines as they reportedly are ready to give Heinrich Klaasen more than INR 22 Cr to retain his services.
