Lizaad Williams joins Delhi Capitals as Harry Brook’s replacement

After nearly three weeks of the 2024 Indian Premier League action, Delhi Capitals have announced South African pacer Lizaad Williams as a replacement for Harry Brook. Brook pulled out of the 2024 IPL due to personal reasons, with the English batter revealing the reason behind his absence. 

Williams is one of the sought-after pacers at the SA20, with 15 wickets in the recently concluded edition, averaging 16.5. Across all T20s as well, Williams has an impressive CV, with 106 wickets at an average of 19.4, conceding runs at just 7.7. 

The 30-year-old was also part of the Joburg Super Kings franchise in the SA20 and will come into the Capitals’ dressing room with loads of experience. Considering the lack of form for their key pacer, Anrich Nortje, there is a high possibility that Williams could be inserted into the playing XI straight away.
