Shakib Al Hasan and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are in more trouble, as the board has reportedly been sent a legal notice seeking Shakib's removal from the national cricket team.
Shakib, a former member of the parliament of the Awami League party in Bangladesh who is currently with the men’s national team in Pakistan, was named in a murder case filed at Adabor Police Station in Dhaka on August 22 (Thursday).
Multiple media outlets in Bangladesh have reported that the legal notice has been sent to the BCB. Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Sajib Mahmud Alam is believed to have sent the notice on August 24 (Saturday).
With there being silence on the BCB’s part, however, it is unlikely that Shakib won’t take the field on Day 5. Thus far, there have been no official statements from the BCB or Shakib regarding the case that’s been filed against him.
Shakib was among 147 names accused of the death of a garment worker, Mohammed Rubel, during protests in the country on August 5.
The case against the former Bangladesh skipper was filed at the Adabor police station on August 22 (Thursday) by Rafiqul Islam, the father of the deceased Rubel, who succumbed to bullet wounds after being shot.
