The BCCI have reportedly added KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel to the India ‘A’ squad for the second unofficial Test against Australia ‘A’ with an eye on giving the two individuals valuable match practice ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting later this month.
The Indian Express reports that Rahul and Jurel will join the India ‘A’ squad by November 5 (Tuesday) and will feature in the second unofficial Test, which will be played from November 7 (Thursday) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Victoria.
While Rahul played only the first Test in Bengaluru Test against New Zealand, after which he was axed, Jurel did not feature in the series altogether. The 23-year-old, however, did feature as a substitute wicketkeeper in the first Test after Rishabh Pant hurt his knee while keeping.
The first unofficial Test between India ‘A’ and Australia ‘A’ ended earlier today and the tourists slipped to a heavy seven-wicket defeat on the back of impressive showings from the duo of Nathan McSweeney and Beau Webster. For India, Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal were the standout performers in the contest.
For the second unofficial Test, Australia ‘A’ could end up fielding a much stronger bowling attack, with a chance of both Scott Boland and Michael Neser featuring in the hosts’ starting XI.
