The IPL mega auction for the 2025 season will take place in Riyadh on November 24 and 25, Sportstar has reported. This will be the second time that the auction will take place overseas after it was hosted at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai (2023).
However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t confirmed it yet. Another issue that could haunt the board is that the auction will coincide with the first match between Australia and India on November 22 in Perth.
The very same report also indicated that BCCI’s team has already visited Riyadh to sort out all the logistics for the two-day auction. Earlier, the reports hinted that the BCCI could be looking at a venue overseas for the auction, given the success back in 2023, when they hosted the auctions for the 2024 season.
Dubai, Singapore, and even Vienna were some of the other places that the BCCI had searched before finalising Riyadh.
Punjab Kings would be the franchise that would be looking highly forward to the auction, given that they have nearly INR 110 crore in their kitty and a team to build from scratch.
