Former India all-rounder Vijay Bharadwaj has been appointed Delhi Capitals' (DC) head of scouting, according to a report on Times of India. Recently, the franchise appointed Hemang Badani as their head coach and Venugopal Rao as the director of cricket. Bharadwaj will be expected to work closely with both of them as DC look to win their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title.
With the formalities completed, Bharadwaj is expected to be in attendance for the trials which will take place in the upcoming weeks in Hyderabad and Mumbai.
49-year-old Bharadwaj has previously been associated with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), as their assistant coach in the first three seasons. He has since been shuffling between commentary, coaching and administrative roles.
DC have gone through a bit of an overhaul this season. They have removed Ricky Ponting, who was in charge for the last seven seasons, as their head coach. They reached the final once with Ponting at the helm — in 2020 — when they lost to the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a one-sided contest.
