IPL 2025: Mega auction to be held in Jeddah on November 24, 25

The mega auction will clash directly with Day 3 and Day 4 of India's first Test versus Australia in Perth

The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction, which is being held ahead of the 2025 season, will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25.

1,574 players have registered for the auction, with registration closing on November 4. The list includes 1,164 Indian players and 409 overseas players. There are 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 players from Associate Nations.

The auction will clash with the first Test between India and Australia in Perth (Day 3 and Day 4). Given that matches in Perth begin two hours later than the rest of Australia, there could be a direct clash in action in Perth and Jeddah.

Earlier, all franchises announced their list of retained players on October 31.

The IPL 2024 auction was also held overseas — in Dubai. However, it is the first time a mega auction has been held overseas.

Mega auctions have generally been a two-day event given franchises have to rebuild their squad for the upcoming seasons. This mega auction will again be held for franchises to sign their players for the next three years — 2025 to 2027.

Given that the maximum squad size per franchise is 25 players, a maximum of 204 players will be going under the hammer in Jeddah.

The Associate representation includes one player from Italy, one from UAE, two from Scotland, four from Canada, 10 from the USA, and 12 from the Netherlands.

From Test-playing nations, South Africa have the highest number of players registering for the auction (91), followed by Australia (76), England (52), New Zealand (39), West Indies (33) and Afghanistan (29).

In the Indian contingent, there will be 48 capped players and 965 uncapped players.
