The Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen some stellar bowling performances over the years. Bowling a maiden is such a rare feat in T20 cricket, let alone the IPL, but it does not get the credit it deserves. Here, we look at bowlers who have done so on 10 or more occasions:
The fourth-highest wicket-taker in IPL history, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, has bowled the joint-most maidens in the tournament with 14 to his name. He is also the fourth-highest wicket-taker in the IPL, with 181 wickets at an economy rate of 7.56.
At the IPL 2025 auction, Bhuvneshwar was in the middle of a bidding war between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), but in the end, it was Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) who procured him for INR 10.75 crore.
Another swing bowler, Praveen Kumar, played for five IPL franchises in his 10-year IPL career and bowled as many as 14 maidens in over 420 overs. He often made the new ball talk and ended his career with 90 wickets in 119 matches.
He last played in the IPL for Gujarat Lions in 2017.
One of the best new ball bowlers, Trent Boult, has rarely faltered in getting his team off to the perfect start. In fact, he has 29 wickets in the first over of an innings, which is the most in IPL history.
Other than being a wicket-taker, he has the tendency to keep it tight as well, having bowled 11 maidens in 104 matches so far.
Like Boult, Irfan Pathan, too, was someone who could swing the ball early on and rattle the batters.
The left-arm pacer might not have reached his full potential in the tournament, having picked up just 80 wickets in 103 matches, but he bowled 10 maidens in the tournament - one of just four players to do so.
