India Women have been fined 10% of their match fee for maintaining slow over-rate during the second One-Day International (ODI) against Australia Women in Brisbane on December 8 (Sunday), a release from ICC stated.
Match referee David Gilbert sanctioned the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side as they were found two overs short of target after all time allowances were taken into consideration. "In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," the release further added.
Harmanpreet accepted the sanctions, and as a result, there was no need for a formal hearing. India went on to concede a record score of 371/5 agianst Australia in that ODI, with opener Georgia Voll and Elysse Perry slamming centuries. In response, India could muster up just 249 to lose the game by 122 runs.
Three days later in Perth, Australia went on to complete a 3-0 whitewash with an 83-run victory.
