India to play one internal warm-up match ahead of Australia Tests: Reports

The Indian side will take on the visiting India A side at the WACA between November 15 and 17

India will play an internal warm-up match ahead of the five-match Test series against Australia, according to a report on Cricbuzz. The Indian side will play the touring India A side, who will already be in the country for their two-match series against Australia A, which will be played between October 31 and November 10 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena and the MCG.

The India A side, likely to be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, will then take on the India side to face Australia at the WACA, Perth, between November 15 and 17. The first Test will be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22.

"It's [an] internal [match], so up to India how they use the game. Maybe some of the Test players may play in the India A games, but again up to the BCCI. Not many countries seem to play warm-up games these days. Australia didn't play any before the last series in India," a Cricket Australia (CA) official said, reported Cricbuzz.

The selectors are yet to pick the India A squad, but it is expected to be done within a week. However, chief selector George Bailey said that the Australia A squad will be picked on October 14 (Monday), and an update on Cameron Green's fitness is likely to be provided.

After the series opener in Perth, the action will shift to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney for the remainder of the series.
