IND vs BAN: Nahid Rana has to know how to manage himself, feels Andre Adams

The 21-year-old pacer rose to prominence as he regularly clocked 150 KMPH in the Pakistan Tests

Fast bowler Nahid Rana bowled an excellent spell in the second Test against Pakistan, after after an under-par performance in the first Test. The 21-year-old will face his biggest test yet, as Bangladesh prepare to take on India in the first Test in Chennai, starting September `19 (Thursday).

Rana finished with figures of 4/44 in the second innings of the second Test against Pakistan, after picking up just two in the previous three innings of the series. Fast bowling coach Andre Adams puts that down to the young pacer's eagerness to learn quickly, but at the same time also warned him against burn out, and believes that it is vital he manages himself well.

"He [Rana] is pretty well-grounded. He is not someone who gets excited by the accolades, not from my experience with him. He is always trying to get better, and his drive is to get better, and he likes bowling well, and he bowled really well," Adams told Cricbuzz.

"He is working hard to get stronger. I think young fast bowlers need to be strong. He produces a lot of force so he's got to know how to manage himself and he works very diligently in the gym. Since Nathan [Kiely, S&C coach) came on he got the group faster and fitter. That's a big improvement. Nahid knows what he wants to achieve," he said.

"When you are fast and got the bouncer you've got to use it when you can. The good thing with Nahid Rana is his pace doesn't really drop, and whenever he bowls, he bowls fast, and that's pretty cool.

"If you look at the first Test [against Pakistan] he wasn't as accurate and learning how to be more accurate. He only played three Test matches, and you can't expect him to bowl like Glen McGrath after three Test matches, but what we do like to see is his improvement," he said.

Rana rose to prominence as he regularly clocked 140 KMPH plus in the Pakistan Tests. He has played just three Tests since making his debut earlier this year, picking up 11 wickets at 41.09 so far.
