On the back of his match-winning spell in Bangalore, Jasprit Bumrah has broken into the top five bowlers in the latest ICC Test Rankings. The 28-year-old has jumped six spots, to being the fourth-best bowler in the longest format, leapfrogging Shaheen Afridi, Kyle Jamieson, James Anderson, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner and Josh Hazlewood.
Fellow pacer Mohammed Shami too has made the climb, displacing Ravindra Jadeja to the 17th place, as Sri Lankan spin pair of Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama have attained the 32nd and 45th spot. However, there remains no change in the podium, as Pat Cummins, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kagiso Rabada retain their rankings at the top.
On the batting front, former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who is going through a rough patch of form has slipped down to No.9, with Sri Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne making the jump following his century display in Bangalore. Nkrumah Bonner and Shreyas Iyer, who both made brilliant contributions with the bat, have soared to the 22nd and 37th place respectively.
