Australia shatter personal records to seal Super 8s qualification

The 2021 T20WC champions demolished and obliterated records in Antigua in a comprehensive win over Namibia

Australia entered the clash against Namibia on June 11 (Tuesday) needing just a win to seal Super 8s qualification. Even a narrow win would have been sufficient, but, on the night, the blood-thirsty Aussies brutalised a listless Namibia as they progressed to the next round.

The one-sided encounter, which lasted all of 136 balls, saw the Kangaroos break several personal records, particularly on the bowling front.

On the night, Namibia were bowled out for 72. It’s the lowest total Australia have managed to bowl out a team for, in T20I history.

Bangladesh 73 all-out in Dubai, 2021

After winning the toss and bowling first, Australia set the tone in the powerplay with the ball. They picked three wickets, yes, but conceded only 17 runs. It’s the first time in their history that they conceded fewer than 20 runs in the powerplay in a T20I encounter.

After the poor start, Namibia found themselves reeling at 27/5 after 10 overs. It’s the second-lowest score posted by a team after 10 overs in T20WC history.
