Pakistan bounced back from 13/2 to chase down 194 with seven wickets and 19 deliveries to spare in the second T20 International (T20I) against Ireland on May 12 (Sunday) in Dublin. They went into this game after losing their first game of the series - their first-ever loss to Ireland in the format.
After failing in the first T20I, Mohammad Rizwan played a superb knock, finishing unbeaten on 75 off 46 deliveries, and along with Fakhar Zaman (78 off 40) put on 140 for the third wicket before Azam Khan (30* off 10) took the team home comfortably.
Rizwan has been among the most consistent batters for Pakistan having notched up over 3,000 runs at an average of 50.38. Barring Rizwan, only Virat Kohli averages over 50 (51.75) in T20Is.
When Rizwan was asked to comment on this after the match, he said, "I don't look at my numbers. If you look at the average, you are an average player. If you look at the match situation and the conditions then it's better. About Kohli, he is a good player and we learnt a lot from him. I respect him."
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam, too, was full of praise for Rizwan and Fakhar after they dug their side out of a hole.
"First six overs, we lost two, but Rizwan and Fakhar built the momentum. Rizwan is experienced and he is playing according to situation and it demands positive intent," Babar said.
With the three-match series level at 1-1, the action shifts to the third T20I, which will be played on May 14 (Tuesday) at the Castle Avenue Ground in Dublin.
