The problem of two factions leading the Secretary and President posts in the Bihar Cricket Association (BICA) refuses to die down as Patna High Court’s intervention finally led to the end of the crisis regarding Bihar’s squad for the prestigious Ranji Trophy 2024-25.
Bihar will play their first game in Elite Group C against Haryana in Rohtak from October 11 onwards.
The issue, which had propped up even last year, has its roots in the election of the BICA. Amit Kumar, who was elected secretary, was shunned by President Rakesh Tiwari. He was removed from his post, but Kumar approached the Patna High Court and got an order in his favour on August 5. He was reappointed by High Court-appointed Justice Shailesh Kumar Sinha.
However, once again, the Secretary and the President announced two teams for two different camps. The High Court retracted its order, and the team announced by the BICA, headed by Tiwari [President], will now travel to Rohtak to play in the season opener.
Apart from Bihar and Haryana, the other teams in Group C of the Ranji Trophy are Bengal, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.
