Venue details
The surfaces at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown have been slow but there are runs for the taking if the batting is willing to spend some time in the middle. Scotland openers George Munsey and Michael Jones put an unbeaten stand of 90 in 10 overs against England, while Marcus Stoinis whacked 67* off 36 against Oman.
Overall in this World Cup, the batters here have operated at a scoring rate of just 6.7 and a wicket has fallen every 17.9 deliveries. The fast bowlers have produced way better numbers than spinners, in terms of average (15.3 v 43) and balls/wicket (13.9 v 40.8). The spinners, however, have been slightly more economical (6.3 v 6.6).
Weather conditions
Scotland’s previous game against England here in Bridgetown was washed out but the weather is likely to stay clear during this encounter. The humidity is expected to be around 80%.
Players to watch out for
David Wiese - The 39-year-old has arguably been Namibia’s most important player in the last couple of years. Against Oman, the fast-bowling all-rounder claimed three wickets before single-handedly winning Namibia the game in the Super Over. He first hit a four and a six in the first two deliveries and then defended 21 with the ball. He is one player who could fetch you points in all three departments.
Gerhard Erasmus - The Namibia skipper is someone who has always led his team from the front. In T20Is since 2023, Erasmus has slammed 373 runs across 17 innings at an average of 31.08. What’s more, the 29-year-old spinner has also claimed 26 wickets @ 10.2 and an economy rate of 4.8. Even against Oman, Erasmus took 2/20.
Richie Berrington - The Scotland captain is one more player you should have in your team. The 37-year-old has a batting average of 34.22 and a strike rate of 161.3 in his last 10 T20Is innings. In this period, he has six 30-plus scores.
Key battles
Ruben Trumpelmann vs Scotland top-order
The left-arm seamer from Namibia was almost unplayable with the new ball against Oman. He took three wickets in the powerplay and eventually finished with figures of 4/21. In fact, almost 50 percent of his T20I wickets have come in the powerplay. He is one bowler Scotland’s top-order batters will have to be wary of.
