Faiz Fazal calls it a day from all formats of cricket

Fazal made his India debut back in 2016 against Zimbabwe and scored a fifty that helped India win the game by a canter

Former Vidarbha skipper Faiz Fazal, who played one ODI for India back in 2016, has decided to hang up his boots from first-class cricket following Vidarbha’s Ranji Trophy match against Haryana. Fazal was a constant in the Vidarbha unit and one of the tallest run-makers in domestic cricket, accumulating 9183 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 41.36.

"Tomorrow marks the end of an era as I step onto the Nagpur ground for the last time, where my journey in first-class cricket began 21 incredible years ago. It's been an unforgettable ride, filled with cherished memories that I'll hold dear forever,” Fazal wrote in an Instagram post.

"Representing both the Indian Cricket Team and Vidarbha has been the greatest honor of my life, and donning those cricket jerseys has always filled me with immense pride. Farewell to my beloved Number 24 jersey - you'll be deeply missed. As one chapter closes, another awaits, and while bidding adieu to my professional cricket career fills me with mixed emotions, I'm eagerly looking forward to embracing the new adventures that lie ahead."

Fazal made his India debut back in 2016 against Zimbabwe in Harare and scored a fifty that helped India win the game by a canter. He waited for his chance to be picked in the Test side, but the opportunity never arrived. Fazal continued to pile on runs in domestic cricket, leading Vidarbha to two championship titles under the coaching guidance of Chandrakant Pandit.
