Follow UsNewly-appointed Kenya's head coach Dodda Ganesh, in an exclusive Cricket.com chat, confirmed that Kenya will visit India for a camp. The former Karnataka speedster revealed that the camp is tentatively set to begin on September 2 (Monday) and is expected to go on for about four weeks.
"We want to play some 15 games before the tournament, they are very kind - the BCCI, KSCA, NCA and the Goa Cricket Association. They have offered us to come and practice," Ganesh told Cricket.com.
The team is expected to come to Bangalore first and then venture out to other cities and states subject to their approvals. As many as 16 players are expected to travel along with three support staff, including Ganesh. However, KSCA are yet to respond to Cricket.com's contact.
Kenya are due to play in the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League in September and T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers in October. ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League, which is one of the pathways for the 50-over World Cup in 2027, will be played between September 25 and October 5 in Kenya. They will be up against Denmark, Jersey, Kuwait, Papua New Guinea and Qatar in League A.
As far qualification for the T20 World Cup is concerned, Kenya made it to the African Regional Final last year, but were beaten by Namibia and Uganda to finish fourth. This time, they are clubbed with Gambia, Mozambique, Rwanda, Seychelles and Zimbabwe in Group B. Top two from these teams will move on to the Regional Final, that already has Namibia and Uganda, who played in the T20 World Cup 2024.
