England have added seamer Saqib Mahmood to their squad ahead of the second Test against India at Lord's, starting on Thursday (August 12). The Lancashire paceman will serve as a cover for Stuart Broad who suffered a calf injury during a warm-up on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, offspinner Dom Bess will leave the squad and return to Yorkshire after England added Moeen Ali to their set-up.
Mahmood has played seven One-Day Internationals and nine Twenty20 Internationals but is yet to make his Test debut. The 24-year-old has claimed 65 wickets in 22 first-class games at an average of 26.30.
He recently featured for England in the ODI and T20I series against Pakistan. Mahmood picked up nine wickets in three ODIs and then claimed four more in as many T20Is.
The first Test between England and India ended in a draw after the final day was washed out. Apart from Mahmood, England also have Mark Wood and Craig Overton who didn't feature in the first Test.
