ENG vs AUS: Travis Head does the damage with ball this time

The part-time bowler rolled his arm over and picked up four vital wickets

It was an epic collapse in Bristol in the series decider between England and Australia that saw the hosts collapsing from 202/2 in 25 overs to being bowled out for 309 in the final over. The heroes for Australia were the spinners, who took eight of the 10 wickets.

Travis Head, who has been in outstanding form with the bat of late, was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 4/28 in 6.2 overs. He was the eighth bowler for Australia in the match, and he was introduced into the attack after there was some purchase on the track for them.

As a result, Head now has the second-best bowling figures by an Australian spinner against England in ODIs. Other than Head, Glenn Maxwell (2/49) and Adam Zampa (2/74) were the other spinners who were among the wickets.

Best figures for an Australian spinner against England in ODIs:

4/31 - Adam Zampa, Melbourne, 2022

4/45 -Adam Zampa, Sydney, 2022

4/46 - Glenn Maxwell, Perth, 2015

Head's figures are also the second-best for a spinner in Bristol, after England's Adil Rashid's 5/27 against Ireland in 2017.

This is also the third instance where the Aussie spinners have picked up eight or more wickets in an innings in the 50-over format.

7/58 vs WI, Guyana, 2016

Moreover, the Australian spinners have picked up 23 wickets in the series - the most by them in an ODI bilateral series.
