Musheer Khan was the hero for India B in the first innings of their clash against India A, with the teenager hammering 181 in a marathon effort that saw him score 56.38% of the team’s runs. On a track in which no other top six India B batter scored more than 30, the 19-year-old, in just his seventh first class game, played a knock for the ages in Duleep Trophy 2024.
But the hero from the first innings fell for a zero in the second, thanks to an outrageous piece of wicketkeeping from Dhruv Jurel.
On the final ball of the sixth over of India B’s innings, Musheer got a solid tickle to a delivery down leg from Akash Deep. On the first look, the ball looked like it would race towards the fine leg boundary because the contact was pretty good.
However, out of nowhere, Jurel dove to his left and plucked the ball out of thin air to complete a one-handed blinder. The India A players could barely believe what they’d just seen from Jurel. Understandably, they mobbed him after the spectacular effort. The effort from Jurel even brought out a smile from the face of KL Rahul, who generally sports a poker face all the time.
Earlier, just an over before Musheer departed, India B lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for 9. The left-hander endured twin failures as he only managed 30 in the first innings.
As it stands, India B lead India A by 112 runs, with seven wickets in the bank.
