Duleep Trophy 2024: RCB star Vyshak removes Riyan Parag cheaply

Riyan Parag suffered yet another failure at the Duleep Trophy, walking back for a nine-ball two

After a stellar six months, Riyan Parag’s purple patch is waning, as the right-hander has suffered a terrible fate of poor form. Batting for India A, the Assam-born batter was undone for a nine-ball two in the clash against India C on September 19 (Thursday).

Having walked in to bat early in the innings, courtesy of yet another impressive display from Anshul Kamboj, who removed Pratham Singh and Mayank Agarwal, the pressure was on Parag to resurrect the innings. But the right-hander was quite nervous during his stay at the crease before Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Vyshak Vijaykumar accounted for him.

Vyshak bowled a pearler outside off-stump, tempting Parag, who drove the ball away from his body, only to find Sai Sudharsan who had the easy task of catching the ball. Earlier in the clash, the right-hander was caught quite off guard by a Vyshak in-ducker, only for the impact to save him.

Parag started the Duleep Trophy 2024 in decent fashion, scoring twin scores of 30 and 31 against India B at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The 22-year-old showed attractive cricket in the second clash against India D but failed to convert those starts (37 & 20) into a substantial total.

His early dismissal here only further pegs his red-ball chances for the Men in Blue.
