Here's everything you need to know about Duleep Trophy 2024, including players to watch out for, venue guide & more

The 2024-25 Indian domestic season is set to begin with the Duleep Trophy on September 5th 2024 in Bengaluru and Anantapur. This edition of the Duleep Trophy will be a special one as a lot of India internationals will be taking part in the tournament to get ready for the upcoming Tests. They begin their home season with a two-match Test series at home against Bangladesh, starting on September 19th, 2024.

Anantapur will be hosting five of the six encounters, while Bangalore will be hosting the tournament opener. Keeping the Tests down under in mind, the surfaces in Anantapur are expected to be fast and bouncy, mimicking the conditions in Perth.

India A

Newly appointed India Test vice-captain Shubman Gill will have his task cut out as he leads a star-studded India A side. Some of the other talents include KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Riyan Parag. The side also boasts of a solid pace-attack with the likes of Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Vidwath Kaverappa and Khaleel Ahmed, making them firm favorites heading into the tournament.

A potent mixture of youth and experience will be seen in India B. Rishabh Pant makes a comeback to the longest format after 20 months, with domestic giant Abhimanyu Easwaran leading the side. In R Sai Kishore, Rahul Chahar, and Washington Sundar, they have a very well-rounded spin unit.

The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India C is another side filled with promise, as Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Vyshak Vijaykumar feature for them. A lot of up and coming names complete their pace-bowling reserves including Anshul Khamboj, Gaurav Yadav, and Sandeep Warrier

India D is a line-up of young international talents trying to make an impact. Skipper Shreyas Iyer will have Devdutt Padikkal, Ishan Kishan, and Tushar Deshpande - amongst others - at his disposal. Arshdeep Singh will also be a part of the setup, and will want to use to this opportunity to showcase his red-ball abilities. Meanwhile, Axar Patel will be managing the spin department along with the talented Saurabh Kumar and Saransh Jain.

Domestic names in the 'Spotlight'

R Sai Kishore

Sai Kishore has been knocking on the doors of Team India for the last the couple of years. In first class cricket, the Tamil Nadu left-arm spinner has led his side to knockouts on multiple occasions. He was the highest wicket-taker in Ranji Trophy 2024 with 53 wickets. 

Abhimanyu Easwaran

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been in the periphery of the Indian Test setup for over five years. The right-hand opener from Bengal has accumulated over 2000 runs in first-class cricket at an average of 58.5. Further, he's been amongst the top five highest run getters in the country since 2022. 

Ricky Bhui

Ricky Bhui is having a terrific year in 2024 at the domestic level. He was the highest run scorer in Ranji Trophy earlier this year scoring 902 runs at an average of 75.2. 

Baba Indrajith

Baba Indrajith has been a Tamil Nadu stalwart for nearly a decade. The right-hand middle order batter has consistently been amongst the highest run-scorers in every domestic season, averaging over 60 in Ranji Trophy since 2021. 

Saurabh Kumar

Saurabh Kumar has been the best spinner in FC over the last two years. The left-arm spinner from Uttar Pradesh has picked up over 100 wickets since 2022. He was also a part of the Indian squad that toured to Bangladesh in 2022.
