Dodda Ganesh, who was appointed as head coach of the Kenyan senior men’s cricket team on August 14, was removed from the post just one month later on September 14 (Saturday). The decision was taken by Cricket Kenya as they found the appointment ‘purported’ and refused to ratify the appointment.
“Voided the purported contract made on August 7, 2024, between Mr Manoj Patel and yourself. Pursuant to the above, Cricket Kenya is not and shall not be bound by the said purported contract,” Sportstar quoted a letter by Cricket Kenya to Ganesh.
“You are therefore directed to cease any further engagement or dealings with the men’s national cricket team with immediate effect. Any concerns or claims relating to this notice should be channelled to Mr Manoj Patel [Chairman] and any other individuals who irregularly and unprocedurally engaged you in this respect,” the letter further read.
Ganesh, who played four Tests and one ODI for India, represented Karnataka for a long time in domestic cricket.
He was to guide the Kenyan team in their T20 World Cup Africa qualifiers. For the same purpose, the Kenyan team was to tour India in September and October, this year.
