Sri Lankan batter Dinesh Chandimal won’t be part of the Sri Lankan setup for the fourth day of the second Test, with the wicketkeeper-batter leaving the Chattogram Test with a family medical emergency.
The Island nation won’t be required to worry about batting one wicket less, with Chandimal already dismissed on day three of the second Test. However, his experience might be a big miss for Sri Lanka in their quest to make the scoreline 2-0.
"The player will return home immediately. Sri Lanka Cricket, his team-mates, and the coaching staff fully support Dinesh Chandimal at this moment of need and request that the public respect his and his family's privacy," a statement put out by the SLC said.
While not contributing too much with the bat in the second innings (9), Chandimal was one of the fluent batters in the first innings when Sri Lanka put up a mammoth 531 on the board. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 59, where he hit five fours and two sixes. It has yet to be ascertained whether Chandimal will return later in the clash.
