India’s Deepti Sharma will return to The Hundred after three years as the all-rounder has been snapped up by London Spirit as replacement for the injured Grace Harris.
Deepti last played in The Hundred back in the 2021 edition, incidentally also for London Spirit. She did not take part in each of the last two editions, but the 2024 season will see the 26-year-old return to the competition.
In the London Spirit squad, she will take the place of Harris, who is out of the tournament due to a calf strain.
"Harris suffered an aggravation of a calf injury sustained in her preparation for The Hundred and the upcoming season. She is now working through a graduated rehabilitation and [a] return-to-play program,” a Cricket Australia statement said.
Deepti’s selection makes it three Indians in the 2024 edition of The Hundred, with the other two being Richa Ghosh (Birmingham Phoenix) and Smriti Mandhana (Southern Brave).
However, all three players will miss the first week of the tournament due to the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024, which starts today (July 19).
The Hundred (Women’s) will begin on July 23 (Tuesday), with the final being played on August 18 (Sunday) at Lord’s.
