India all-rounder Deepti Sharma has attained her career-best position in the latest edition of the ICC player rankings. Deepti's three wickets in the first two matches of the One-Day International (ODI) series against New Zealand saw her move to second position, her joint career-best position in ODIs, with England's Sophie Ecclestone leading the way.
Deepti also moved to fourth place in the all-rounders' rankings. She scored 41 and finished with 1/35 in the first ODI against New Zealand to help her side to a 59-run victory.
New Zealand captain Sophie Devine, too, made significant progress. She moved to a career-best eighth position in ODIs following her match-winning 79 in the second game against India. Moreover, her 3/27 in the game saw her jump to seventh from ninth in the all-rounders category as well.
In the ongoing ICC Women's Championships, which is a pathway for automatic qualification for the next World Cup in 2025, India, the hosts, are on 23 points from 14 matches, while the White Ferns have from 20 games. Australia (28 from 18) and England (28 from 21) currently occupy the top two spots.
