David Warner is one of the most unselfish people I've met: Jake Fraser-McGurk

"I say he's 70% Indian, 30% Australian," the 22-year-old jokes

Australia batter Jake Fraser-McGurk was brought into the Delhi Capitals (DC) side as a replacement for Harry Brook in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, but has, since then, taken the tournament by storm, having hit 259 runs at a strike rate of 233.33 in six innings.

His impact has been so great that he has kept an IPL legend like David Warner out of the XI. However, Fraser-McGurk has revealed that he shares a terrific bond with Warner and reckons that the southpaw is one of the most unselfish people he has ever met.

"He [David] is one of the most unselfish people I've ever met. He always has time for everyone. He wants to help you 24/7. Every hotel he's always been like two rooms away from me. I just go into his room and have coffee every morning," Fraser-McGurk, said on the DC Podcast.

"He's more Indian than Australian. That's what I tell him. I say that. I say he's 70% Indian, 30% Australian," he added.

Fraser-McGurk's red-hot form had many talking about potentially having him in the Australian side for the T20 World Cup 2024, but the selectors decided against it. The powerful batter also said that he had no expectations of playing a single game in the tournament but is delighted to play a role for DC.

"The differences of actually being in it and seeing it from an outside point of view and hearing about it has sort of married up quite nicely. I just didn't have any expectation to play a game, but to be able to play now is great," the 22-year-old said.

Speaking of his experience in the IPL, another powerful batter, Tristan Stubbs, has also grabbed his opportunities with both hands. He has slammed 277 runs at a strike rate of 185.90 in 11 matches so far. Stubbs says he is just excited to get an extended run in the side.

"It took me a while to get used to the hype and pressure. I've really enjoyed this year. It's been nice to get an extensive run in a team playing. We've played lots of golf, done a lot of things off the field, which is always nice," Stubbs said.

DC are currently in sixth position with 10 points from 11 matches so far. A win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their next game in Delhi will certainly go a long way in remaining in the hunt for a place in the playoffs.
