St Lucia Kings (SLK) beat Antigua & Barbuda Falcons (ABF) by 26 runs in Match 17 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 on September 15 (Sunday) in Gros Islet to go second in the points table with eight points from six games. Antigua, on the other hand, remain in fifth spot.
The Falcons put the Kings into bat, and things seemed to be going according to plan before David Wiese smashed an unbeaten 43 off 26 coming in at seven to take his side past 150. Falcons skipper Chris Green finished with an outstanding 4/22, while fast bowler Shamar Springer finished with 3/19.
In reply, Antigua lost half their side inside the powerplay, but Springer (23) and Green (48) put on 60 for the sixth wicket to give their side hope. However, it was not enough in the end. Left-arm spinner Khary Pierre was the pick of the bowlers for St Lucia, finishing with 3/24, while Afghanistan wrist spinner Noor Ahmad chipped in with a couple of scalps.
Antigua will face Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) on September 19 in Port of Spain, while St Lucia will face Barbados Royals (BR) on September 20 in Guyana.
