Jordan's hat trick is the third of this tournament and the ninth in the history of T20 World Cups

Chris Jordan ran through the USA lower-order in a rare over, picking four wickets in five balls. In the process, he became the first England bowler to pick a hat-trick in T20 internationals. It is also the third hat trick of this World Cup edition in four days with Australia’s Pat Cummins picking the other two.

USA were looking for a big finish in the final few overs, pinning their hopes on Corey Anderson. However, Jordan, bowling the 19th over, shattered those aspirations with Anderson’s wicket on the first ball. Looking for a big hit, Anderson miscued a low full toss straight to the long-on fielder.

With only the tail remaining, Jordan targeted the stumps to frame his hat trick. He missed Muhammed Ali-Khan’s off stump by a whisker on the second delivery. However, Jordan had his man on the next ball, bowling a similar delivery but ensuring he hit the off stump this time.

Nosthush Kenjige was adjudged lbw after missing a straight delivery. On the hat trick ball, Saurabh Netravalkar drove loosely with his front foot planted outside the leg stump. Jordan’s length delivery flattened the middle stump to add to the moment.

The United States slid from 115/6 to 115 all out in the blink of an eye. Overall, they managed only 50/7 in the second half of their innings to be bundled out cheaply.

For Jordan, it was a special moment. Born and raised in Barbados, Jordan made his return to his native island with a World Cup hat trick. This is England’s third match in Barbados in this World Cup. Jordan picked 0/24 against Scotland and 2/44 against Australia in early clashes here.

“Unbelievable feeling, getting it (hattrick) at a special place (Barbados) is always nice,” Jordan said on his special moment in the mid-innings interview.

This is only the second occasion of a bowler picking four wickets in an over in a T20 World Cup match. In 2021, Curtis Campher pouched a double hat trick against the Netherlands. Jordan's figures of 4/10 is also the third best for England in their T20 World Cup history.
