Chloe Tryon returns to South Africa Women squad for India T20Is

South Africa Women have named their 15-member squad for their upcoming T20 International (T20I) series against India, starting July 5, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on July 1 (Monday).

Chloe Tryon, who missed the One-Day Internationals (ODI) and the one-off Test, has recovered from her back injury and is back for the T20Is. All-round duo of Delmi Tucker and Nondumiso Shangase will head home after the conclusion of the Test match. 

“We're excited with the 15-player squad that has been selected for the T20I series. We also have Chloe back in the team after recovering from an injury. She brings a lot of experience to the team and we can't wait to see her back on the field," Proteas Women interim head coach, Dillon du Preez said.

“We have our last three T20I matches against India. This will give us some time to look at one or two options before we go home and start our final preparation for the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh,” he added. 

South Africa were whitewashed in the three-match ODI series in Bengaluru recently, and wll hope that they make amends in the T20Is, given that the T20 World Cup in Bangladesh is just three months away.

“Our goal is to provide a platform for our players to gain valuable experience and showcase their skills, ensuring we are well-prepared for the challenges ahead. The return of Chloé Tryon is a significant addition, and we are confident that this squad will perform with the determination and excellence that defines Proteas Women cricket," Proteas Women Convenor of Selectors Clinton du Preez said.

India and South Africa will clash in a three-match T20I series between July 5 and 9, with all matches set to take place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
