Cheteshwar Pujara signs deal with Sussex for 2024 season

Pujara has eight centuries and three half-centuries in 18 games for Sussex - a terrific conversion record that made him such an integral part of the set-up for the last two seasons

Cheteshwar Pujara has re-signed a deal with English county club Sussex for the first seven County Championship games of the 2024 season, but the deal doesn’t have him playing in the Domestic One Day Cup of 2024.

"I have enjoyed my time at Hove the last couple of seasons and couldn't be more delighted to be back again with the Sussex family. I am looking forward to joining the team and contributing to its success," Pujara said in a statement.

Pujara has had a stellar record with Sussex, having amassed 1863 runs at 64.24 in 18 first-class games. He has eight centuries and three half-centuries in those games - a terrific conversion record that made him such an integral part of the set-up for the last two seasons.

Welcoming him to the club, Sussex Head Coach Paul Farbrace said, "I am delighted that Cheteshwar is returning to Hove again for the first two months of the season. He is not just a high-quality player but is also a high-quality person. His experience and calmness in matches is a fantastic asset for our team."

Sussex will also joined by Australian batter Daniel Hughes as another overseas signing who will be available from the start of the T20 Vitality Blast until the end of the season. 35-year-old Hughes averages 36.90 in first-class cricket with a best knock of 178 and he is expected to play a major role for the club.
