David Warner, who will be playing his first full season of the Big Bash League (BBL) in the 2024-25 edition, feels that he will most likely be opening the innings with Sam Konstas, the young 19-year-old from New South Wales (NSW).
Though Warner has Cameron Bancroft as another option after Nic Maddinson got injured and was ruled out of the league.
"We'll speak about it this week, we'll see in the warm-up game. I'm probably erring between myself and probably Sammy Konstas at the top," Warner was quoted as saying to AAP.
"We know he's talented but it's about going out there in the Twenty20 stuff and trying to work out how to sort of play that format as well, and what he's going to bring to the table.
"I'll have a chat with him about how he wants to play and what his style of cricket is as well,” added the 38-year-old, who will be captaining the Thunder in the season starting December 15th.
"We'll have these conversations in the next couple of days about how we want to play and making sure that everyone's on the same page."
Between Bancroft and Konstas, the latter made his case stronger by hitting a 91-ball century against India in a pink-ball 50-over game in Canberra. He has also hit two centuries for the NSW team in the Sheffield Shield.
On the other hand, Bancroft has had only one century in the last 17 innings of his last 10 matches across formats.
