Follow UsSteve Smith is ready to lead Australia in Pat Cummins's absence in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, which will begin in the island nation on January 29 in Galle.
Both the Tests will be played at the picturesque Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Australia have already made it to the finals of the World Test Championship after having defeated India 3-1 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, and will South Africa at Lord’s to have a shot at their second World Test Championship title.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka are out of that race and will be playing for pride in the series.
The tour also consists of two ODIs, which will serve as good practice for the upcoming Champions Trophy for both sides.
Schedule and Venue
The first Test match will begin on January 29, and the second one will start on February 6. The two ODIs will be played on February 12 and 14 in Colombo.
